Year 7 Design and Technology

Our aim at Baldivis Secondary College is to provide all incoming students with an opportunity to learn the distinct knowledge and gain the specialised understanding of this exciting learning area. Skills are taught that enable students to gain experience using the design process while developing practical skills in the process and production of technology rich tasks. Specialty subjects and well equipped and modern learning environments form part of our Secondary Education experience. Students will take part in two semester long courses where various interesting and fun projects are undertaken.

The Design and Technologies Year 7 course, which runs for two periods per week for the year will include introductory projects in Wood Technology and Systems Technology in one semester and CAD Technology and Metal Technology in the other.

These learning experiences will maximise their exposure to a possible future in Design and Technologies courses in Years 8 to 12 and beyond. The Year 7 courses also promote and complement the students learning of other curriculum areas, and links will constantly be made referring students to the STEAM model which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.
