Students will be introduced to both the functional and aesthetic uses of metal in our world. Metal is highly functional and yet it can be beautifully artistic depending on the project. Projects involve a variety of metalworking skills such as sheet metalwork where a carry-all toolbox will be made. Metal turning on the lathes will be used to produce revolved profiles and various types of welding, soldering and cutting will be carried out on various take home projects.
Some other materials such as plastics will be integrated into the course. Students will be using the Metal Technology workshop and equipment to gain experience to prepare them for possible further studies and careers where practical know how and hands on skill and creativity are required.
