Year 9 Systems Technology

Students gain an understanding of how things work in our technological world. Each machine or device can be broken down into a system or systems and these are explored and replicated.  The structures, mechanisms and science behind each system will be examined, reverse engineered and reproduced as the students are required to then construct their own systems.  Some projects are ‘make and take home’ projects such as the DIY electric motor and electronic cricket while others are required for future classes.  Systems studied include, electrical, electronic, robotic, automotive, mechanical, structural, hydraulic, steam and solar.  Systems Technology is very much in line with engineering and these projects prepare the students for a possible career in  these fields.
