Year 8 Visual Arts – Art and Craft Combined

The Year 8 Visual Arts course engages students in traditional, modern and contemporary media and promotes an exploration of various materials and techniques within a wide range of art forms.   These include line drawings (still life, portraits, cartooning, landscapes, one-point and two-point perspective), colour rendering, abstract art using oil pastels, acrylic painting, watercolour painting, clay sculpture and digital media.  This course encourages students to explore and represent their own ideas while concentrating more on the skills and techniques to do so.  Students are encouraged to appreciate the work of other artists while engaging in their own art practices.

Pathways:

Students undertaking the Year 8 Visual Arts course can enter into other Visual Arts subjects in Years 9 and 10 including Visual Art, Fine Art and Art and Design.  Each area has the possibility of a Year 11 and 12 pathway.
